So it's actually winter here, meaning 40-50 degree days including schizo random freezing showers scattered throughout the day. Yesterday was particularly freezing so after a quick visit to Queen Victoria's Market (like Paddy's Mkt in Sydney but bigger, cleaner, more organized, less crowded and including a meat section), a trip to the Melbourne Museum (gigantic and educational), and a warm tasty meal, we just bundled up and stayed warm indoors.

Artsy shot of destroyed logs representing industrial and fire
damage to Aussie forests. |

Coach and Mike, Human body exhibit. |

The animal room was the best. They had models of lots of
animals from different parts of the world. Most were real and
stuffed, I think. |
|
They even acknowledge evolution here! Just one panel displaying
evolutionary arms race, random mutation, and sexual selection. |

Look how teeny!! |

Y u no exist anymore? :( |
|
Australian Coat of Arms. Adorably silly. |

I read 175 pages of this yesterday afternoon. Being warm in a
blanket leisure reading on a cold day is one of the most relaxing
things. Especially when the novel is about serial killers. |
|
To add with the theme, Coach and I met up with Mike to watch
American Psycho at night. Incredible though ambiguous. |
Today's explorations included the Shrine of Remembrance, Botanical Gardens, wonderful little alleyway cafe lunch, and a tour of the Parliament House. Also saw the sports precinct from a distance and over the weekend will go to the National Sport Museum, see a footie match (Australian Rules Football at the Melbourne Cricket Grounds), and for my little brother, a tour of Rod Laver Arena where the Aussie Open is held.

Since Melbourne is all about culture and atmosphere, a bit of nightlife. Just a taster for tomorrow night though, since tomorrow is Little Penguin day!
